Our Heritage

Founded when Webster Groves was young, First Congregational church has grown with the St. Louis County area. The original 1870 church's sanctuary was replaced in 1993, providing the congregation with a large worship space and an outstanding space for musical performance. Old Building of the First Congregational Church of Webster GrovesFirst Congregational members are dedicated to Christian fellowship and community service. As a Congregational church we are autonomous in matters of church governance. We revere, foster, and respect individual spiritual growth. We are proud of our long Congregational tradition dating back to the Pilgrims of the 17th century. The Congregational tradition supported higher education, struggles for women's education and women's suffrage, abolition, civil rights and continued struggles for social justice. As a United Church of Christ, we are a united and a uniting church. We embrace both strong historical roots and future growth and transformation in the service of Christ.
